Thank you for your interest in working for Griffin Web Design & Marketing. Our team is our most valuable asset, and we like to treat our staff members well. We strive to work together harmoniously, always considering how we can improve our services and streamline our workflow for maximum efficiency, making our work enjoyable.
Living Wage & Fair Hiring
Griffin Web Design is committed to providing a living wage and utilizing fair hiring practices. We do not discriminate based on race, age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or lifestyle. Minorities are encouraged to apply. We are e-verify certified, so all our staff members must provide appropriate identification/documentation for work in the USA.
We are very discerning regarding all aspects of professionalism, so successful candidates will utilize effective communication with appropriate grammar, syntax, punctuation, and elocution. Successful candidates will maintain a professional, well-groomed appearance for all business interactions. A personal sense of artistic style (such as a colorful scarf/tie or a unique necklace/pin) is acceptable and even encouraged, as long as the individual remains professional and well-groomed.
A cheerful, easy going attitude is fundamental. There will be times when projects may be difficult or tedious and clients may be challenging. Successful candidates will be flexible enough to laugh through the rough times and cheerfully adapt as we continuously improve our ways of doing business.
When we are hiring, available positions will be listed below.
Griffin Web Design & Marketing is seeking a part-time executive assistant to join our team.
INTRODUCTION – We have been in business for over 21 years. We have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. We are known for our outstanding custom-designed websites, search engine optimization, social media management, and outstanding customer service. We are a green company, and we offer a 10% discount on every home page to non-profit organizations.
ASSISTANT POSITION – The Executive Assistant will assist the Managing Director, deal directly with clients regarding various projects, attend sales and/or networking events in the Asheville area, perform administrative work, and other organizational tasks. Ideal candidate will also have project management experience (though not required) and be able to take on additional tasks as needed.
PAY – This is currently an outsourced/contract position offered at a pay rate of $15 per hour for approximately 10-15 hours per week. Payment will be made weekly by direct deposit (paid on Fridays for the previous week’s work).
DIVERSITY ENCOURAGED – We strongly believe in tolerance and acceptance of all individuals regardless of gender, race, national origin, religion, age, disability, or lifestyle, and we encourage diversity in the workplace. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply regardless of these factors. We are e-verify certified, so all our team members must provide appropriate identification/documentation for work in the USA.
REQUIREMENTS – The successful applicant must meet the following requirements:
REQUIRED: Residence in or Very Near to Asheville, NC
Although much of the work will be done at home, there will be many times when work is required in Asheville, such as meetings, tradeshows, etc.
REQUIRED: Excellent English Skills
Accents and colloquialisms are fine. However, language skills contribute to the image of a business, as they are indicative of professionalism and a quality education. Thus, the successful candidate must understand the difference between the words your and you’re; there, their, and they’re; its and it’s; clients, client’s, and clients’; and he/she must regularly use the correct word in context. Applicants who tend to start sentences with the word me, such as, "Me and my friend went to the store," are not ideal for this position.
REQUIRED: Consistent Professionalism
While a relaxed, informal attitude is fine between colleagues behind the scenes, the successful candidate will know how to dress professionally in a job interview (wearing a business suit or other formal business attire). We personally admire how much of Asheville is liberal and relaxed, yet we must remember that not all our sales prospects fall into this category. Good hygiene is imperative. While some expression of personal, artistic style is great — such as a colorful scarf or unique tie or necklace — excessive tattoos, piercings, or a lingering smell of cigarettes or strong perfumes are not ideal for this position.
REQUIRED: Enthusiasm and Dependability
Everyone has personal situations which may, on occasion, require flexibility in adjusting one’s schedule, etc. However, these situations should be rare. Applicants who have ongoing drama in their lives that could affect their availability for work or their attitude while at work are not ideal for this position. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a pleasant outlook and be enthusiastic about the job. An ideal candidate is someone who regularly smiles and causes those around them to smile as well.
REQUIRED: Dependable Computer, Transportation, Internet Access, and Telephone
The ideal candidate will have a well-functioning computer and resources to use an alternate computer, fix it, or replace it should that ever become necessary. Reliable transportation to attend meetings is required. Reliable Internet access (or the ability to go to a WiFi hotspot with a secure VPN) is required. Reliable telephone service is also required.
REQUIRED: Basic Computer Skills
The successful candidate will understand the basics of operating a computer, such as how to set up an email account, save files on the computer and later find them, open a web browser, perform searches in a search engine, etc. Familiarity with WordPress is a plus, but not required. Familiarity with website design principles is a plus, but not required. This position will not be performing any design work or website coding, but a solid understanding of technical principles is required in order to speak intelligently with prospects regarding meeting their web design and marketing needs.
REQUIRED: Extreme Organization and the Ability to Follow Instructions
This position will include many varied tasks. The ideal candidate will have exemplary skills in staying organized in order to ensure no tasks are left undone as well as the ability to follow written instructions so that previously written documentation can provide the training required for new tasks.
REQUIRED: Acceptance / Tolerance of Differences
Applicants will not be discriminated against based on race/ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, or political preferences. However, applicants who discriminate against others themselves are not ideal for this position. Additionally, this is not an ideal position for those who are so involved in these personal attributes that one brings the above issues to the workplace.
HOW TO APPLY
